At Deer Creek Church, restoration meant reclaiming the sanctuary from harsh light and restoring theological meaning through subtle, abstract design. The east-facing windows allowed overwhelming sunlight to flood the space, washing out detail and disrupting worship. Our restoration approach involved pioneering an airbrushed, kiln-fired painting technique that softened the light while embedding the five Presbyterian “means of grace”—word, water, bread, wine, and prayer—into ethereal cloud-like forms. This restored visual balance to the sanctuary and renewed its symbolic richness, offering congregants a worship environment filled with calm, depth, and spiritual resonance. Through this project, we restored not only comfort to the space but the deeper purpose of stained glass as a storyteller of faith.
