The restoration project for Sam Houston State University represents one of the most significant heritage renewals we have ever undertaken. After the original stained glass window was tragically lost in a 1982 fire, our artisans were asked to faithfully recreate it from a single surviving photograph. The work required the same methods used to restore 19th-century windows: glass matching, accurate paint layering, kiln firing, and rebuilding leaded structures piece by piece. Because the antique glass was no longer manufactured, we meticulously hand-painted and fired 3,000+ glass pieces—sometimes applying over ten layers to match the tonal depth of the original artwork. The project restored a cherished piece of the university’s history and now stands as a living memorial, bridging the past with the present in a way only true restoration can.
